Injury Update

Well the diagnosis is in...I think...
I have plantar fasciitis in my left arch, as expected. Which apparently is a common spot for people with "dancer's feet" as my podiatrist put it. Looks like my 15 years as a mediocre dancer has paid off :o)

So, left foot pretty minor, not a huge deal. Right foot I have achilles tendinopathy, which basically from what I can tell just means an inflamed achilles tendon. So he gave me a night splint which I have to wear an hour on each foot, not necessarily during bedtime. Although I might try it and keep it on longer if I can. Hotness. No worries, this is not my hairy leg:

And get this, during the day, no flat shoes, only wear heels and wedges. When have you ever heard someone recommend that! Ha!

Also, I start physical therapy on Thursday. I was supposed to do the Sunset and Suds 5K from Urban Athletics, which includes free beer at the end of the race. No dice.

The doctor seemed to be dodging my question about how long I would have to stop running for. Just encouraged me to continue strength training (minus lunges and squats) and do the recumbent bike at the gym and get as many PT sessions in as possible. Pretty panicked about this. The coaches keep talking about how this is the meat of the training and critical not to miss. But what can I do now. Please help me stay positive people, I really need it right now. And honestly, I need to lose the woe-is-me attitude because I'm sure there are TNT people out there who are much more injured than me!

  2. Did someone say dancer's feet? Can this injury be tracked back to "Bad to the Bone?!" Those "costumes" were dangerous, to say the least... Although you might be able to use some of the duct tape from our tops to hold your night splint on?

Sending you positive vibes. Follow doctor's orders and you'll be back on the road soon! xxoo
