The Central Park Conservancy 4M race was a blast. Although brutally hot as usual, the support was amazing and the crowd was great. After carefully reading the "how to get water from a hydration station" I wasn't expecting misting stations, which consisted of very bored looking girls holding hoses over the crowd. When I ran through them I wanted to squeal like the little kid in Billy Madison that sits on the sprinkler. Except the girls were clearly so bored that the hose was watering the grass more than the people. I mean really? Is your job that hard?
As I crossed the Start line the radio announcer said "Team in Training is out in FORCE today, look at the sea of purple!" YEAH! Then, at the beginning and end of the race the Team in Training coaches were there screaming with cowbells to cheer us on...it was an amazing feeling to have their support. I was feeling the love for them and for this training program. And I needed it because I gunned it for the last mile and thought I was going to die.
My favorite part was the conversation I had with a running buddy at the end. Him: "Wow, you got a really bad sunburn on your face." Me: "Nope, I just get really red." My mother tells me this is a trait I inherited from her. Red meat face. Awesome.
Because I forgot to take a photo at Central Park, I decided Mike and I should have our photo taken in front of the dorm activities board featuring a slightly lop-sided soccer ball.

Stay tuned for Tuesday's update!
